Congratulations to Kevin Higgins on his very successful cake sale in St John’s Catholic Church in Knocknacarra, Co Galway which raised €3000!! Read below to see how he organised the whole event, it may give some inspiration for your own fundraising!
“We asked everyone we knew both from Knocknacarra church and our own friends and family if they could bake something for us. Even my own sister from Kilkenny arrived with cakes and crumble for the sale. We had approximately 400 items to sell including buns, tarts, pastries, iced cakes and jams. A local bakery also supported us. Including myself we had 8 volunteers, all wearing the Niall Mellon Township Trust t-shirts, helping at the sale. The local catholic church provided us with a room to sell our produce. We had the sale after the four Saturday/Sunday masses. The church placed a notice in the newsletter each week before the sale and announced it during each mass on the day.
People had to queue to get into the room. The sale was so successful that we had 2 large crates of pastries etc to donate to a local charity afterwards. It was by far the largest cake sale ever held in our church.
The sale raised €2250 and donations in a collection bucket brought the total to €3000.
Well done to everyone.”
